Since December 2023, Artemis Global Art, in addition to their branches in Woodstock (USA) and Malaga (Spain), can also be found in Ootmarsum. Time to visit Monique Slot, founder and face of the company.

Artemis Global Art was founded in 2014 with a clear mission: to bring Dutch art to the attention of the world. The platform offers painters, sculptors and designers from the Netherlands the opportunity to exhibit their work internationally through an extensive network of galleries.

The current collection of Artemis Global Art includes works by artists such as Ton Schulten, Gert van Reenen and sculptures by Jan Pater. It is regularly supplemented by pieces by guest artists, so the collection is always in flux.

Monique Slot, the driving force behind Artemis, explains how the new location fits perfectly with her vision.

For us, Ootmarsum is a 'place to meet and greet'. Here art lovers can meet established artists as well as new talent and experience their work.

Why Ootmarsum?

"Here in Ootmarsum you are literally and figuratively close to the artist," says Monique. "It is not only the art city of the east, but also an important place on a national level. Ootmarsum attracts art lovers from home and abroad thanks to the variety of art forms and the many galleries. It is a walhalla for the art lover."

The choice of Ootmarsum was strategic. "Artists feel at home here," Monique explains. "It's close to Germany, but it remains unmistakably Dutch. That makes it an ideal place to give artists a stage and help them spread their wings internationally."

Opening in the midst of the Christmas spirit

The gallery opened its doors during the weekend of Christmas & Art 2023. Was that a conscious choice? "Not quite," Monique confesses, laughing. "We weren't quite ready, but I thought: if we don't open now, when will we? Despite the bad weather, a lot of people came in. It turned out to be the perfect dress rehearsal."

The gallery immediately drew attention with a diverse collection: from Jan Pater's sculptures to smaller, affordable art objects. "That diversity makes it approachable and attracts all kinds of visitors," Monique says enthusiastically.

Art with a personal touch

At Artemis it's all about quality and feeling. Monique selects the art with care.

"If I don't like it enough to buy it myself, it doesn't come here in the gallery." - Monique Slot, Artemis Global Art

This personal approach makes for a unique collection, from impressive paintings to sculptures that spark the imagination. A good example is the collaboration with sculptor Jan Pater, known for his female torsos in granite, onyx and bronze. "Jan has been an established name in the Netherlands for years and was immediately enthusiastic when I told him about the gallery in Ootmarsum. His works fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the gallery."

A place with history

The gallery's location has a rich history: it is Ton Schulten's former museum. Monique sees that as a great added value. "We like to tell visitors about the history of this place and our collaboration with Ton. That gives an extra layer to the story of the gallery."

Come by and find out for yourself

With an impressive collection, a warm welcome and a clear mission, Artemis Global Art invites you to visit Ootmarsum. Whether you are a seasoned art connoisseur or just looking for something beautiful for the wall: at Artemis you will find inspiration and quality. With her passion for art and connecting power, Monique Slot has not only opened a gallery with Artemis Global Art, but also added a new chapter to the rich story of Ootmarsum. Well worth a visit.
